I am doing my best to work and fully use the new and improved Service Order Explorer and find myself having some issues. Say i have a customer who need s a service call to add two new IP cameras. It is not associated with a project and will stand alone as a service order for this customer.
So when i create a new service order i need to manually fill in everything, which i mostly understand. Some issues i have, i have to manually add labor and products separately. When i add in a product, none of the information comes with it, not even the part number or any other item specific information. Why?
What I would like to see, if possible, is since we have entered all this information into the products (accessories, labor hours, and much more, why cant we add and item (like a project) and have it populate the labor with the correct labor from the item and offer the accessories as needed. So when i assign resources and plan labor, it will be accurate.March 16, 2015 at 2:26 pm #8802
Service Orders has been designed with a simpler model than projects. We plan to improve this over our next releases.

Is there a reason that items added to service orders do not show as taxable from the mobile install site? When we bring them back into D-tools and add them to the “Items” area, tax is applied, making the total collected in the field inaccurate.March 25, 2015 at 4:22 am #8815
When you add the Site Item to the SI Service Order you could uncheck the taxable checkbox.

Following your suggestion makes sense if the items are non taxable. However, most states require items sold in the field to be taxed. Without the ability to tax these items from the Service Order, the approval amount is always going to be incorrect. I guess we could add a “tax” item that we manually calculate, but it seems like it’s an easy fix to make this more useable. Also, we should be able to send the signed approval to the client (via email) to give them a receipt of the service.March 24, 2017 at 9:23 am #12430
