We have a large company file about 1GB which from what I understand is quite large. Traditionally quicklinks has always been very slow even with 5.5 but after installing 6 I’m lucky if I can even get three projects exported without it crashing. Nothing seems to help including running the export from the server.
My last ditch effort I purchased a new ‘used’ server. Its a Dell PowerEdge 2950. It has 8GB RAM and dual quad core 2.5 GHz processors and a RAID 5 with 15k drives. This machine is a hot rod compared to the dual core 1.8 GHz server it was on before. I have been conducting tests all day on a copy of our company file and it is behaving exactly the same. I do not believe it is server performance or network performance as I can copy the file from the server to my PC in less than 10 seconds. So what gives?
I cannot create a new job for an existing customer
I often times have to close D-Tools and restart the estimate because of misc. errors.
Mapping products as well as creating new ones takes FOREVER.
There have been times where it times an hour to export a simple project with only a few items.
D-Tools support was no help and basically told me there was nothing that I could do. Anyone else have any suggestions, I am getting desperate.July 25, 2013 at 4:09 am #8079
SIX 2013 which is due soon improved QuickLinks performance especially on large QBW files with large customer and item lists. Please wait for this release and let us know on the forums if the performance is better.
Sorry for the inconvenience.September 11, 2014 at 10:48 pm #8080

For us we have a hosted QB File on a server. And we have the current version of Six and it takes a long time after every box entry. Like 5 min per. Not efficient. Is there some way to improve this. Having the QBW file on the local d-tools server is not an option.
